SPRINGFIELD, MASS. – The St. John Fisher University women's basketball team beat Roger Williams University, 58-50, in their final game of the 2023 calendar year.
The Cardinals trailed after the first quarter and entered the final quarter tied at 36, but outscored the Hawks 24-12 in the fourth quarter en route to victory.
The game had nine lead changes and was tied four times.
Junior guard Sidney Tomasso led the way for Fisher with 23 points, hitting three three-pointers while making four steals and six rebounds. Fellow junior Katie Moravec had twelve points, four rebounds, three steals, and two assists.
Defensively, freshman forward Joleen Lusk led the team in rebounds, with 13. She also had six blocks.
The game was the first of two for the Cardinals in the Naismith Classic at the University of Springfield. They'll play William Paterson University on Monday, New Year's Day, at 2 P.M.
