Game Day Preview: Men’s Basketball Travel To Carnegie Mellon To Begin The Week

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University men's basketball team are beginning a long string of road games on Tuesday when they head to Pittsburgh, PA to take on Carnegie Mellon University. This will begin an eight-game road stretch and the Cardinals will not return home until the new year.
 
Cook is Cooking
Starting forward, Daniel Cook, has picked up where he left off last season. In the opening five games of the season, he has played in 29.0 minutes per game and has averaged 16.2 points, 9.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.8 blocks per game. He is coming off of winning Empire 8 Player of the Week and being named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week and aims to continue his hot start.
 
Career Year For Foley
Jack Foley has come out of the gate putting up some of the best numbers of his collegiate career. He matched his career high in points in a game with 19 against RIT. He has knocked down 14 threes on the season on a 56% clip, which is ranked no. 15 in NCAA DIII. Foley is averaging 13.0 points per game to go along with 6.0 rebounds and 2.2 assists.
 
Scouting the Tartans
Carnegie Mellon began the season 5-1 with wins over La Roche, Whitworth, Whitman, Washington and Jefferson and Denison. The Tartans are led by the sophomore duo of Justin Allen and Buckley DeJardin. Allen is averaging 25.2 points per game, shooting 51% from the field while also grabbing 7.3 rebounds. DeJardin is adding 19.0 points per game, hitting threes at a 61.5% clip.
 
Looking Ahead
The Cardinals will play a pair of Empire 8 games this weekend, traveling to Hartwick College on Friday, Dec. 1 and Russell Sage on Saturday, Dec. 2.
