PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University women's basketball team took home its first win of the season on Thursday in the first game of the Mark's Pizzeria Crosstown Shootout with an 83-60 victory over RIT.
The Cardinals, playing at Nazareth University, led 35-33 at the half, but put the game away in the second half by outscoring the Tigers 48-27 in the final 30 minutes of the contest.
Fisher was led by freshman forward
Joleen Lusk, who scored 26 points on the night while adding 11 rebounds, two assists, and two blocks. Junior
Sidney Tomasso was second on the team with 18 points and ten rebounds.
Defensively, senior guard
Claire Kruszka had three steals.
St. John Fisher out-rebounded RIT 41-35 on the night. The Cardinals were also 18-19 (94.7%) on the night from the charity stripe.
The Cardinals, now 1-1 on the season, return to the court for their second game of the Crosstown Shootout on Saturday, Nov. 18 at Nazareth University against the University of Rochester. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 P.M.
