HOUGHTON, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University field hockey team completed its regular season with a 3-1 win over Houghton University on Saturday.
The Cardinals were led by junior Molly Fisher, who scored the 1-1 equalizer in the 26th minute before later scoring the team's third goal in the 31st minute. Senior Sam Choate also scored, putting the Cardinals ahead 2-1 in the 27th minute. Junior Audrey Grieb assisted in Molly Fisher's second goal.
Defensively, senior goalkeeper Sophia Trozzi made three saves in the game.
The win ends the Cardinals' regular season at 10-7, including a perfect 7-0 record against the Empire 8. Fisher has clinched the top seed in the conference tournament, including a first-round bye straight into the semifinals.
That semifinal game will be held on Thursday, Nov. 2, against the winner of a first-round game between Russell Sage and Utica. The time of the game at Growney Stadium is to be announced.
