Weekly Preview: Women’s Soccer Prepares for Matchups Against Ithaca and Hartwick

PITTSFORD, NY – The St. John Fisher University women's soccer team will travel to Ithaca College for a game against the Bombers on Tuesday, Sept. 20 before facing Hartwick at home on Saturday, Sept. 24 as they look to keep their undefeated record.

Numbers to Know: Following draws against the University of Rochester and SUNY Fredonia, the Cardinals sit at 2-0-3 on the season. The team has averaged 13.4 shots per game this season, in comparison to opponents 7.0 shots per game. Grace Wolsieffer has paced the team with two goals and four points this season. Jenn Kirker has contributed one goal and three points herself.

Previous Matchup against the Bombers: The matchup against Ithaca College will be the first time they meet since Sept. 21, 2021. In that matchup, the Cardinals fell by a final score of 3-1. Last year's Empire 8 Rookie of the Year, Emma Spelman got the assist on the goal for the Cardinals. Spelman has followed up last year's campaign with two goals this season. She is also averaging over 50 minutes played per game.

Home Sweet Home: On Saturday, the Cardinals will return home to take on Hartwick College in their Empire 8 Conference opener. The last time these teams met was Sept. 25, 202, with Hartwick ultimately winning by a score of 2-0. Since 2005, while home against Hartwick, the Cardinals have gone 4-0-4. Look for the Cardinals to come out strong while playing at Growney Stadium.
