ALBANY, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College women's lacrosse team picked up its third-straight win after a 17-1 Empire 8 victory over Russell Sage, Saturday afternoon, inside ACP Stadium. With the win, Fisher, which is receiving votes in the latest Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association nation poll, moves to 5-6 overall, and 3-0 in the conference, while Sage falls to 5-7 on the season, and 2-2 in the Empire 8.

Linda Michele's team continued its win streak with a 17-1 win over Sage, holding the opposition to its lowest scoring mark all season.
Farrah Zalla led the way for Fisher with four goals, followed by hat tricks from
Mary Fiorentino and
Bianca Giacona. Freshman
Sydney Carpenter had a career-high eight points with two goals and six assists, coming one assist shy of the Cardinals single-game record. Goalie
Lilly Goodsell earned the win (5-6) and finished the match allowing just one goal and saving four shots.
After causing a Gators turnover, Fisher went on a 4-0 run over the first five minutes of play, including goals from Zalla,
Courtney O'Dea, and Giacona.
From there, the Gators would get one back before a draw control from Carpenter would allow her to find
Kathleen Salanger to score her first of the game.
Leading 5-1 with seven minutes to go in the first, a pair of caused turnovers from the Fisher defense allowed Carpenter to sprint down the field and find Giacona for her second goal of the match.
As the match wore on, Fisher's defense shut down the Sage offense and produced a 6-0 run to enter the half leading 12-1.
Following the break, the match was all Fisher, as the Cardinals shutout the Gators 5-0 in the last 30 minutes.
Zalla finished the match with two more goals in the fourth quarter to take a 16-point lead with minutes left in the fourth quarter. A comfortable 17-1 lead, Fisher's offense ran the clock out to secure the team's third-straight win.
As a team, Fisher forced 28 turnovers, was 16-18 on clear attempts, tallied 29 groundballs, and won 14 draw controls.
Fisher will be back in action at 4 p.m. on Wednesday as they travel to Keuka Park to take on the Wolves in an Empire 8 bout.
