No. 5 Men's Lacrosse Breaks Program Record for Goals in Rout of Keuka

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The nationally-ranked St. John Fisher College men's lacrosse team set a new program record for goals in a single game on Wednesday afternoon after the Cardinals dispatched of Keuka College, 31-3, in an Empire 8 pairing inside Growney Stadium.  With the win, Fisher, which is ranked fifth in the latest United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association poll, improved to 9-2 on the year and remained atop the league standings at 2-0 while the Wolves closed out the game at 2-6 overall and 0-3 against Empire 8 opposition.

In all, a program-high 22 different players were credited with at least one point led by Jordan Depetres and Ethan Kesselring who had five apiece.  Depetres scored four goals and handed out one assist while Kesselring scored a career-high two goals and assisted on three others in the win.  Tucker O'Donnell posted four goals at midfield while Brennan O'Brien scored twice and assisted on two other goals.  Nicholas Miller was credited with a goal and three assists along with three ground balls while Jake Carpenter made the most of his time on the field with a goal, two assists and four ground balls.

Matthew Kemmis found the back of the goal twice for Fisher and scooped up three ground balls while Jordan Leuze and Jake Riley each had two points including a goal and an assist for head coach Dave DobbinsMikey Peralta and Griffin Dautrich both scored two goals while Tyler Edinger had two assists and a pair of ground balls overall.

After swapping goals over the opening three minutes of play, Fisher put the Wolves in a quick nine-goal hole after closing out the opening period on a 10-1 run.

From there, the Cardinals' defense would force Keuka into 14 turnovers over the remainder of the game while scoring 20 more goals on the offensive end of the field.

The Cardinals dominated at X with Joe Post going 14-of-15 with two goals and a game-high 11 ground balls.  Logan Grom was perfect on the face after winning all 13 of his attempts and securing nine ground balls in all.  Christian LoCasto and Scott Reeves combined to go 7-of-9 in the second half.

In goal, Fisher used four keepers with Ben Hammond (9-2) earning the win after allowing two goals over 15 minutes and finishing with one save.  Brandon Moore played 30 minutes in all and came up with four stops while Jack Gullo and Hunter Gentry shut out Keuka over an eight-minute stretch before the game was called with nearly seven minutes remaining in the fourth period due to lightening.    

The Cardinals will look to strengthen their hold in the conference when they return to work at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Utica College.
