OSWEGO, NY -- The St. John Fisher University wrestling team traveled to Oswego State over the weekend to compete in the Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference (ECWC) Championship. It is the first time that Fisher competes in the annual competition.

Joshua Maslyn and
Logan Palmeri scored the most points for the Cardinals with 5.5 points each. Maslyn won back-to-back matches in the consolation bracket of the 149-weight class after a bye. Both wins came via pin fall, first at1:49 and then 3:55. Palmeri won three straight matches in the consolation bracket of the 157-pound class. The first two victories were pin fall's at 1:31 and 1:47, before a 8-3 decision in the fourth round.

In the 141-pound weight class,
Torin Bishop advanced to the fifth round of the consolation bracket to score 4.5 team points. His first victory was a 4-0 decision before earning a pin fall victory in 2:27 in te third round of the consolation bracket. In his third bout, he recorded a 18-9 major decision. Zach Ash had four points for the team, after winning his first round match by a 9-4 decision. In the consolation rounds, Ash won by pin fall and 7-6 decision.
