Women's Soccer Score Four To Get Past Keuka

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. - The St. John Fisher University women's soccer team traveled to Keuka College on Wednesday for an Empire 8 match up. The Cardinals had control throughout all 90 minutes of play, winning 4-0 against the Wolves. With the win, Fisher holds a 7-2-6 record and is 5-0-3 in conference play. Keuka stands at 2-8-5 on the season and 0-5-3 in conference match up.

The first half started as a battle on both sides of the field between the two teams. The Cardinals were creative on the offensive side of the field creating multiple opportunities in the first 45 minutes of play. The first shot of the game was by Tori Cruz at the nine-minute mark. The Wolves defense held strong until the 36th minute when Gwen Madden's shot on goal rebounded and found Megan Letta who put it in the back of the net, Letta's first goal of the season. Abby Fagnani and Kate Rachwal also had shots on target but did not convert. At the end of the first half Fisher went up 1-0 and finished with 13 shots and five corner kicks.

The Cardinals came out fast after halftime. Not even two minutes in, Jenn Kirker weaved through the Wolves defense for a long-range shot and goal. At the 65th minute Maddy Jackson tallied one for Fisher off an assist from Madden, her second assist on the day. This will be Jackson's first colligate goal. Grace Hainsworth capitalized on the next opportunity created of off a free kick from Cruz. This goal was Hainsworth's first of the season. Fisher worked and possessed the ball throughout the entirety of the second half, making it hard for the Wolves to create opportunities. The Cardinals defense held strong by only letting Keuka take eight shots all game. Avery Byrnes and Hannah Robinson both had two saves in the second half to prevent the Wolves from getting on the board. Fisher finished the day with 20 shots to top Keuka College 4-0 at the end of 90 minutes.

Up next for the Cardinals, on Saturday, Oct. 29th they will travel to Elmira College to finish their regular season and conference play. The match is set to begin at 11:30 am.
