PITTSFORD, NY – The St. John Fisher University women's volleyball team (16-6, 9-0 Empire 8) will look to pad their overall record with four games on the road this week, with matchups at SUNY Brockport, Fredonia, Buffalo State and against the University of Rochester.

A weekend sweep over Alfred University and Elmira College helped Fisher round out their fourth consecutive undefeated regular season record in the Empire 8. Having secured the best record in the conference over the regular season, the Empire 8 tournament will be hosted in the Manning & Napier Gymnasium at St. John Fisher University Nov. 4-5.

Scouting the Opponents: Fisher will start the week at SUNY Brockport on Tuesday night in a rematch of a 3-2 Cardinal win last season. Through 23 games, Brockport has an 18-5 overall record. The game, which is set to be played at 7 p.m., will serve as the annual Dig Pink Night for Breast Cancer Awareness. When these two met last year, Fisher was outhit 0.202 to .155. After splitting the first two sets, the Cardinals escaped the third set winning 29-27. The Cardinals would later win the fifth set 15-12, securing the close 3-2 victory. In the win, Brooke Segars led the Cardinals in aces with three.

Fredonia has a 4-18 record this season and will host Fisher on Friday night at 6 p.m. When these two teams met last season, the Cardinals dominated the Blue Devils in a 3-0 win. Fisher held Fredonia to a 0.51 hitting percentage, which featured a miniscule -0.059 clip in the second set. In the win, Lindsey DeBonis carried the Cardinals with 12 kills, 10 digs, four aces, and a block.

The Buffalo State Bengals have played to an 11-9 record, as Fisher will look to prevent the Bengals from reaching the 12-win mark, which the team last accomplished in 2015. Buffalo State will host the Cardinals Saturday at noon. The Cardinals have taken the last six meetings, only dropping one set in that timeframe, back in 2017, over the 19 sets played. After the Cardinals won by a 3-point margin in the first set, 25-22, the Cardinals were able to outscore the Bengals 50-35 over the final two sets, winning in three. Katie Leaty finished with 31 assists and five aces in the win.

To cap off the regular season, the Cardinals will take on the University of Rochester at Buffalo State at 2 p.m. The Yellowjackets enter the week with an 11-11 record. When these two teams met last season, the Cardinals won in three sets. 10 kills from Delayne Young and 7 aces from Segars pushed Fisher past the Yellowjackets.

Player to Watch: Olivia Nellis is the player of the week to watch. While Nellis has struggled over the last three games, the middle has tallied a 0.247 hitting percentage this season. The sophomore leads the Cardinals with 46.0 total blocks, and her 0.69 average blocks per set ranks fourth in the Empire 8 conference.
