BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University football team were on the road on Saturday to compete in the incredible annual event that is the Courage Bowl. It is one of the largest fundraising opportunities for Camp Good Days and Special Times and a great way for the two teams to give back to the community. The game itself, did not go the way that the Cardinals hoped, falling to the Golden Eagles by a final score of 25-0. Fisher now holds a record of 2-3, while Brockport jump to 3-1.
The game started off in the Cardinals favor, with
Jason Rodriguez intercepting the ball in the opening minutes of the game. The team was unable to convert on the opportunity however and punted the ball away after three plays. In the rest of the first, the only scoring game on a Brockport touchdown early in the first quarter, but then neither team allowed for much offense to get going.
In the second half, the Fisher defense began to wear down and the Golden Eagles took advantage. Offensively, the Cardinals only tallied 27 yards of offense and punted the ball nine times. Joe Mischia continues to have an excellent season, tallying 10.0 total tackles, including 0.5 tackles for loss and 0.5 sacks.
Up next for the Cardinals is a home matchup against Morrisville State College on Saturday, Oct. 8. The contest is slated to kick-off at 1 p.m. at Growney Stadium.
