HOUGHTON, N.Y. –
Grant Stokoe secured the individual title at the Empire 8 Men's Cross Country Championship on Friday as the St. John Fisher College men's cross country team took a second-place finish in the season roundup on the campus of Houghton College on Friday afternoon. In the shortened campaign, the Cardinals conclude their 2021 season with two top-two finishes in their pair of appearances.
Stokoe, a junior, averaged a mile pace of 5:08 to finish the 6000-meter race in 19:08.03 and bring home an individual championship for the Cardinals. The time was his collegiate-best in the distance as he shaved over 45 seconds off of his PR, winning him Runner of the Meet honors for his outing.
Finishing in 19:21.8 and recording his second third place finish of the season was
Ethan Billings. The freshman, who was recognized as the conference's Rookie of the Meet, bested his personal record in the race by more than 50 seconds.
Bogdan Rozvora finished in eighth place for the Cardinals after he crossed the finish line in 19:45.1 and averaged a mile of 5:18.

Ryan Allen finished up the Fisher scoring as their 16
th and 19
th place finishes landed within 11 seconds of each other. Rounding out the scoring was
Ryan English and Anthony Dirubbo, who finished in 21
st and 22
nd place, respectively.
The Cardinals scored 43 points on the afternoon and averaged a time of 19:47.2. The mark was just 15 seconds shy of the first-place Nazareth Golden Flyer's median time.
