No. 12 Women's Lacrosse Remains Perfect in Conference Play After Thumping Keuka

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – 10 different players recorded a point on Wednesday as the nationally-ranked St. John Fisher College women's lacrosse team remained perfect in Empire 8 play behind a 20-2 thumping of Keuka College inside Growney Stadium.  With the win, Fisher, which is ranked 12th in the latest Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association poll, improved to 7-1 on the year and 3-0 in the conference standings while the Wolves slipped to 0-2 on the year and against Empire 8 opposition.

Brittany Halpin led all players with six points including three goals and three assists.  The junior was also credited with three ground balls, a caused turnover and a draw control in the win.  Sydney DeGirolamo finished with two goals and three helpers.  The midfielder had 10 draw controls and three ground balls of her own.  Kathleen Salanger netted a hat trick and assisted on two other goals while Alyssa Sabotka chipped in with three goals, an assist and two draw controls for head coach Linda Michele's squad.  Logan Chase, Alyssa Sproule and Mackenzie Alexander each found the back of the net twice while Cara Landry, Bianca Giacona and Alexandra Kopcza each scored once.

The Cardinals put the game out of reach just 10 minutes in after scoring five goals in a span of 1:47 to hold a 9-0 edge.  The lead would grow to 14 at the break before Fisher scored four more unanswered tallies to hold an 18-0 edge to begin the second half.

Keuka would avoid the shutout after scoring on a fast break with 12:25 remaining in the game, but Fisher fired back with two of the game's final three goals to earn the 18-goal victory.

Claudia Mocciaro moved to 7-1 in goal following the win as the senior did not allow a goal and made one save in all.  Lilly Goodsell played the second half and allowed two goals in 30 minutes.

The Cardinals will have a tough non-conference test at 4 p.m. on Saturday as they travel to Geneseo to battle the Knights.
