Baseball Picks Apart Keuka in Empire 8 Doubleheader; Outscores Wolves, 39-0

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College baseball team picked apart the Keuka College Wolves on Saturday as the Cardinals, who are receiving votes in the latest D3baseball.com national poll, took both ends of an Empire 8 doubleheader by a combined score of 39-0, at Kuhl Field.  With the wins, Fisher improved to 9-2 on the year and 2-0 in the Empire 8 while Keuka slipped to 0-2 following the sweep.

FISHER 17, KEUKA 0

After building a five run lead over the first six innings of play, Fisher blew the game wide open in the top of the seventh after sending 16 hitters to the dish in a 12-run, 7-hit inning that made it 17-0.

Anthony Brophy took care of the rest of the mound as the graduate student moved to 3-0 after throwing 6.0 scoreless innings.  Brophy allowed just four hits and struck out eight in the win.  Marty Williams pitched a scoreless seventh inning and finished with two strikeouts.

Overall, Fisher accounted for 12 hits in the shutout with Noah Campanelli going 2-for-4 with a double, four RBI, four runs scored and a pair of walks. Brian Norsen was 2-for-5 at the plate with a double and an RBI while Adam Zebrowski collected two hits on the day including a home run.  Luke Duffy had two hits in five at-bats as the outfielder drove in a run and scored two others.  Jack Kelleher came away with two hits including a double and was credited with three RBI in the win.

FISHER 22, KEUKA 0 (SEVEN INNINGS)

The hot hitting carried over into the night cap as Fisher forced Keuka to use four more pitchers in a seven inning game that was called on account of darkness.

The Cardinals plated two in the first inning and would score five more in the top of the second with Zebrowski driving in a pair with a double to make it 7-0.

Fisher would add three more runs in the third frame before five hits and a Keuka error in the top of the fourth led to eight more runs and an 18-0 cushion.

Head coach Brandon Potter's squad continued to mash and tacked on four more runs in the seventh inning before the game was called.

Campanelli was a force at the plate after going 5-for-6 with two doubles, two RBI and five runs scored.  Zebrowski was 3-for-3 with a double, two runs batted in and a walk while Norsen had two hits in the win including a home run.  Michael Beimel made the most of his start behind the plate after banging out three hits in four at-bats with a double and three runs scored.  Duffy belted two hits in six plate appearances and drove in three overall.

Alec Teska picked up his second win of the season after throwing six strong innings.  Teska did not allow a run and scattered five hits while fanning a career-high 11 batters.  Jack Delaney pitched a perfect inning and registered one strikeout.

Fisher and Keuka will renew pleasantries at 1:30 p.m. on Monday when they two teams meet in a conference doubleheader at Dugan Yard.
