ALFRED, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College women's basketball team dominated from start to finish on Saturday as the Cardinals beat Alfred University, 91-45, in an Empire 8 matchup inside the James A. McLane Physical Education Center. With the win, Fisher improved to 7-2 on the year and 5-1 in the conference standings while the Saxons fell to 2-3 overall and 2-2 against Empire 8 opponents.
Kaitlyn Walker finished with a game-high 22 points on 8-of-9 shooting to go along with nine rebounds and a pair of steals.
Claire Kruszka netted 18 points and handed out a team-high four assists while
Hannah Morse chipped in with 16 points and four boards.
Anna Milham contributed 12 points off the bench while
Amy Gardner finished with eight points, five rebounds and two assists in 29 minutes.
It didn't take long for Fisher to establish itself on the offensive end of the floor as the Cardinals held a sizeable lead following the first quarter of play. Fisher's advantage grew to as many as 45 in the second quarter before the Saxons cut the deficit to 37 at the break.
With the game already well in hand, Fisher saw its lead balloon to 48 points late in the fourth frame before the final horn sounded on the Cardinals' fifth win in Empire 8 play.
Fisher and Alfred will play again at 7 p.m. on Wednesday inside Manning and Napier Varsity Gymnasium on Bobby Wanzer Court.
