PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Just in time for the holidays, the nationally-ranked St. John Fisher College softball team has officially released their 2022 schedule, including 37 contests where the Cardinals will be met with a handful of ranked opponents and 14 Empire 8 conference matchups.
The 11th ranked team in Division III, led by 2018 and 2021 Empire 8 Coach of the Year
Bari Mance, are looking to return to the NCAA Division III Championship - just as they did a year ago.
Fisher will travel down south to Columbus, Georgia for the Division III NFCA Leadoff Tournament March 4th through 6th to engage in some of the nation's hottest competition. Following the tournament, Fisher will travel an hour north to LaGrange, Georgia to face the LaGrange Panthers on March 8th.
After the Cardinals migrate back home, the team will enjoy its home opener as they seek sweet revenge against crosstown rival, No. 8 the University of Rochester, on March 23rd.
Later in the week, the team will hit the road for four straight road contests. Fisher will take on Oswego State on Saturday, March 26th, and then travel further north to Clarkson University for a double header with the Golden Knights the following day. Following the long weekend matchups, the Cardinals will come back to Rochester to meet with RIT on Tuesday, March 29th before finishing up the road trip at Keuka College - the first Empire 8 matchup of the year – on Friday, April 1st.
The next day, Fisher will start a four-game home stand starting against Elmira College in an Empire 8 matchup on April 2nd, before squaring off with regional foes Ithaca College on April 3rd and SUNY Cortland on April 5th and rounding out the week with a date with Alfred University on April 8th.
Over the following week, the Cardinals will again hit the road for five games as they take on Houghton College in an Empire 8 matchup on April 9th, SUNY Brockport on April 13th, Buffalo State on April 14th, Nazareth College in a conference matchup on April 16th, and finally finish the road trip at Fredonia on April 19th.
With just four games left in the regular season, Fisher returns back to the Softball Complex to take on Utica College on April 23rd in an Empire 8 matchup, before the Cardinals close out their season with a senior day matchup against Russell Sage on April 24th.
The Empire 8 Championship, which will be hosted by the tournament's top-seed, will be held the following week.
