Women's Soccer Drops Bout At No. 24 Stevens

HOBOKEN, N.J. – The St. John Fisher College women's soccer team was defeated by the nationally-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology Ducks on Sunday in the second round of the Engineering Cup at DeBaun Athletic Complex, 0-4.  The Cardinals dropped to 1-3 on the 2019 season while the Ducks improved to 2-1-1.

The No. 24 Ducks got out to an early lead as they put a ball past the reach of Cardinals' keeper, Lila Platt, just six minutes into the contest.

The Cardinals' defense kept the Ducks scoreless the rest of the first half, but the Ducks found room to breathe in the second half.  Stevens scored back-to-back goals before it scored its fourth and final goal in the 77th minute.

Fisher tallied eight shots, two of which were on goal.  Carli Kovarik led the Cardinals, who took three shots of her own.

Junior keeper Lila Platt made saves on five of the opponent's nine shots on goal.  Her record fell to 1-1 as the Cardinals' keeper.

Fisher travels to Morrisville State at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 11 for a non-conference matchup with the Mustangs.
