BROCKPORT, N.Y. -  The St. John Fisher College women's soccer team suffered a heartbreaker at A. Huntley Parker Jr. Field to the College at Brockport as the Golden Eagles took a 2-1 advantage in the final seconds of overtime.  The Cardinals fell to an even 1-1 on the season while the Golden Eagles notched their first win of the season and moved to 1-2.

The teams faced a deadlock throughout the first 45 minutes of play as neither could find the back of the net.  The Cardinals were awarded four corner kicks and totaled seven shots, four of which were on goal.

Sophomore keeper
Gabriella D'Ambrosio got her first career start between the posts for Fisher.  She made a critical save on the opponent's lone shot in the half.

The scoring was broken open four minutes into the second half when a Brockport defender took advantage of good position on a corner kick and her attack snuck just outside D'Ambrosio's reach.

Brockport's lead would be short as a foul granted Fisher a free kick just outside the penalty box.  Senior
Emily Murray's ball ricocheted perfectly off the head of
Megan Letta and past the Brockport keeper.  The goal was not only the Cardinals' second of the season, but also the freshman's second of her young career.

The strength of the Cardinals' backfield was on full display as
Abigail Dwyer,
Molly Tice, and
Mia Tirabassi helped keep the Golden Eagles scoreless for the rest of the second half.  As a result, the teams entered a sudden death overtime period.

With just 53 seconds left on the clock, Brockport found a hole and chipped in what would be the game-winning goal.

Fisher tallied 18 shots in the contest, with 11 of them on goal.
Shiane Irwin,
Logan Chase,
Jessica Aldred, and D'Ambrosio all logged an even 100 minutes each for the Cardinals.

D'Ambrosio made six total saves in the match, saving half of the shots fired in her direction.  Her record now sits at 0-1.

Fisher is back in action at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 7 when the ladies travel to Hoboken, N.J. for a matchup with New York University in the first round of the Engineering Cup.
