ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College men's tennis team opened its new season on Sunday as the Cardinals fell to visiting RIT, 9-0, in a non-conference bout at Midtown Athletic Center. With the loss, Fisher is now 0-1 while the Tigers are 2-0 after defeating Nazareth earlier in the day.
In singles play, senior
Dustin McCullough had a tough draw in the first flight before falling, 6-2, 6-4.
Sean Danahy nearly took the opening set at third singles before losing 6-4, 6-1 while
Jordan O'Connell was undone at second singles, 6-1, 6-2.
In doubles play, McCullough and O'Connell had a strong showing before coming up short, 8-3.
Fisher is back in action next weekend as it competes in the ITA Regional Tournament in Geneva.
