Women's Tennis Succumbs to Brockport in Non-Conference Tilt

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College women's tennis team had its two-match winning streak stopped on Sunday as the Cardinals narrowly fell to The College of Brockport, 5-4, in a non-conference pairing at Mendon Pool and Racquet Club.  With the defeat, Fisher slipped to 2-2 on the season while the Golden Eagles improved to 3-2.

The Cardinals picked up all four of their flights in singles play, but were ultimately undone in doubles play as Brockport swept the tandem action to clinch the match.

Kaili Saffran was triumphant in first singles as the Webster native earned a point behind 6-4, 6-3 performances.  Cassidy Bell followed suit with a convincing win of her own at second singles after defeating her opponent, 6-0, 6-1 while Amanda Thongsirimonghoun came from behind after falling in the first set of her fifth singles match to take the next two to win 1-6, 6-4, 6-4.  Valerie Morgans netted the Cardinals final point after a 7-5, 6-2 win at sixth singles.

Fisher will look to start a new winning streak at 4 p.m. on Wednesday when it jumps back in to Empire 8 play at Utica.
