HOBOKEN, N.J. – The St. John Fisher College men's tennis team was unable to keep pace with Stevens Institute of Technology as the visiting Cardinals fell, 9-0, in an Empire 8 clash. With the loss, Fisher slipped to 1-8 on the season and 1-1 in the conference standings while the Ducks improved to 5-8 overall and 2-1 in the Empire 8.
After being swept in doubles play,
Tim Christman nearly earned the Cardinals a point at fifth singles before falling, 6-3, 6-2.
John Miller was upended at first singles, 6-2, 6-0 while
Jordan O'Connell played a competitive flight at sixth singles but came up short, 6-2, 6-0.
The Cardinals are back in action at 4 p.m. on Tuesday when they host Houghton College in an Empire 8 tilt at Mendon Racquet and Pool Club.
