HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The St. John Fisher College men's tennis team dropped a pair of matches on Tuesday and Thursday as the Cardinals fell to Eastern Nazarene by a score of 8-1 before falling to Methodist University, 6-3. With the defeats, Fisher fell to 0-5 on the season.
Against Eastern Nazarene, Fisher's lone win came in third doubles as
Jordan O'Connell and
Tim Christman won their flight, 8-4.
Jarrett Pelton nearly captured the first set at third singles before falling 6-7, 0-6, while
Dustin McCullough battled at second singles but came up short, 3-6, 4-6.
The Cardinals fared better against Methodist with victories at second doubles and second and fourth singles.
In doubles play,
John Miller and Pelton came out on top, 8-7 (7-5) while McCullough earned a 6-4, 6-4 triumph in second singles play.
Jonathan Harper defeated his opponent at fourth singles with a 6-4, 4-6, 11-9 win.
Fisher will conclude its play at Hilton Head at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday against Drew University.
