ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College men's lacrosse team dropped its first game this season as the Cardinals fell to No. 4 RIT on Wednesday night under the lights by a score of 13-5. With the loss Fisher falls to 6-1 overall, while the Tiger improve to 6-1 overall on the season.

Darin Eakins finished with a career-high 20 saves in the game for Fisher as the Cardinals finished the matchup with 21 shots on goal and 27 total ground balls.
RIT was the first team on the scoreboard in the matchup as the Tigers were able to score the game's first three goals.
Ian Evans got the goal scoring started for Fisher as the freshman took a feed from
Jack Mulvihill and put away his 22
nd goal of the season at the 3:52 mark of the first quarter.
From there, RIT would add two more to its lead as the Tigers held a 5-1 advantage heading into the second period.
As the second 15-minute period got underway RIT was able to increase its lead to seven despite a number of point-blank saves from Eakins.
The Fisher defense continued to work hard, while the offense was rewarded with another goal from Evans at the 8:20 mark, cutting the Tiger lead to 7-2.
Following the eighth RIT goal, Evans came up with an incredible caused turnover as he was able to knock the stick from the Tiger defender's hands to keep the offensive possession alive. From there, the Cardinals were able to work the ball around until
Zach Wagner made his way to the front of the net, finishing off his 10
th of the season.
As only one-second remained on the clock before halftime, the RIT offense was able to beat Eakins with a rocket shot from the right side of the circle, pushing its lead to 9-3 at the break.
The third period was a defense battle as the Tigers would score the period's only two goals, giving them a 11-3 lead heading into the final 15-minutes of regulation.
Four goals in total were scored in the final period as RIT tallied the first two, while
Nicholas Miller found the back of the net twice to increase his season total to a team-leading 30.
William Fell would lead Fisher defensively as the freshman caused a team-high three turnovers and five ground balls. Eakins was credited with his first loss of the season, moving his record to 6-1 overall.
The Cardinals return to action next Wednesday at 7 p.m. when they welcome Nazareth to Growney Stadium for an Empire 8 Conference matchup as well as the annual Donate For Life Game.
