ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College men's tennis team kicked off its 2019 season with a 9-0 loss to Rochester Institute of Technology on Saturday night at Midtown Athletic Club. With the defeat, Fisher will head to Hilton Head, S.C. at 0-1 while the Tigers improved to 3-2 overall.
The Cardinals were swept in singles competition with
Dustin McCullough posting the team's best finish at second singles after falling 6-3, 6-4.
Jonathan Harper fell in fourth singles, 6-2, 6-4 while
John Miller was handed a 6-1, 6-2 loss at first singles.
In doubles play,
Jarrett Pelton and Miller were bested at second doubles, 8-6, while McCullough and Harper fell 8-1 in first singles play.
The Cardinals will return to action at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 3rd when they face Baldwin Wallace University to begin a five-match stretch in South Carolina.
