Men's Soccer Falls To Union In Non-Conference Action

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College men's soccer team was upended on the road at Union College on Tuesday night as the Cardinals fell, 3-1, in a non-conference tilt at College Park Field.  With the loss, Fisher fell to 1-7-1 on the year while the Dutchmen improved to 3-5-0 overall.

It didn't take long for Union to jump out to an early lead as the Dutchmen netted their first goal of the game just 90 seconds in on a header inside the box.  Fisher would find itself down 2-0 just eight minutes later when Union doubled its advantage in the 10th minute.

Trailing by a pair of goals in the first half, the Cardinals would get one back in the 12th minute when Antonio Robles came away with a loose ball inside the box before unleashing a strike into the back of the net to make it 2-1.

With time winding down in the opening half of play, Union was able to extend its lead to 3-1 in the 41st minute with a through ball that found its mark as the Dutchmen took a two-goal cushion into intermission.

Coming out of the break, Fisher turned up the intensity on the offensive end, but could not find break through as Union's keeper came up with three saves down the stretch to preserve the win.

In all, Fisher took 18 shots in the game led by Brennan Brown and Tyler Randall who were credited with three apiece.  Justin Bonetto, Dallas Kasier, Joe Balls and Robles each took two shots in the loss.

Justin Miles made his third consecutive start in net as the sophomore keeper came up with five saves over 90 minutes of action.

Fisher will jump back into Empire 8 play at 1 p.m. on Saturday when it hosts The Sage Colleges at Growney Stadium.
