PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Lauren Fazio recorded her second career hat trick on Tuesday night as the St. John Fisher College field hockey team extended its winning streak to four games with a 4-0 win over visiting Houghton College inside Growney Stadium.  Fisher, which had played its first five games on the road, improved to 5-1 on the season and 1-0 in the Empire 8 standings while the Highlanders fell to 2-5 overall and 0-2 against conference competition.

It didn't take long for the Cardinals to jump out ahead as Kelly Bergamo, who was named the Empire 8 Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, corralled a pass from Gianna Palma to make it 1-0 in Fisher's favor.  It marked the third straight game that Bergamo has found the back of the net and was the second time this season that the duo has teamed up to produce a goal.

The Cardinals struck again and doubled their advantage in the 24th minute when Fazio collected a rebound of the Highlanders' keeper and dumped it in to make it 2-0 as both teams broke for intermission.

Coming out of the break, the score remained a two-goal affair until the 47th minute when Fazio broke free and worked around Houghton's goalie for her second goal of the game as Fisher pulled ahead 3-0.  The senior struck again in the 63rd minute when Bre Socker slapped a pass across the middle that found Fazio's stick to stake the home team to a 4-0 cushion.

In all, Fisher enjoyed a 24-10 advantage in shots led by Socker who fired nine shots in total including three on goal.  Fazio and Bergamo accounted for four shots each. 
    
In goal, Ashley Maynard earned her 13th career shutout and improved to 5-1 on the season.  The senior keeper came up with four saves in 70 minutes.

The Cardinals will go for their fifth consecutive win at 11 a.m. on Saturday when they welcome Elmira College to Growney Stadium as part of Homecoming Weekend.
