HOUGHTON, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College men's tennis had its four match win streak snapped by the Highlanders of Houghton College, 8-1. With the win the Cardinals dropped to 4-9 on the season and fell to 3-2 in Empire 8 play. The Highlanders advanced to 5-4 overall and moved to 3-2 in conference play.
Fisher's sole victory of the day came in the first doubles match with Kevin Kulawiec and Dustin McCullough dropping their Houghton opponents, 8-4.
Jordan O'Connell and Jonathan Harper as well as John Miller and Jarrett Pelton put up hard fought battle in second and third doubles with scores of 8-5 and 8-2.
Kulawiec put up a fight in first singles but would eventually fall with scores of 7-5, 6-1. Harper and Pelton also battled in fifth and sixth singles but dropped their matches with scores of 7-5, 6-1 and 7-5, 6-0.
The Cardinals return to their home court at 1 p.m. on Saturday against the Golden Flyers of Nazareth College in a pivotal Empire 8 conference matchup.
