OSWEGO, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College men's tennis team knocked off SUNY Oswego, 6-3 in a non-conference matchup. With the win, Fisher jumped to 3-8 overall, while Oswego dropped to 3-5 on the year.
Fisher would start out the day in style with Kevin Kulawiec and Dustin McCullough taking the win in first singles, 8-0. After Jonathan Harper and Jordan O'Connell dropped a hard fought second doubles match, John Miller and Jarrett Pelton finished off the doubles matches with an 8-3 third doubles victory.
As for singles matches, Kulawiec led things off with a win in first singles with scores of 6-4, 6-0. Miller would follow that up with a win of his own in second singles with scores of 7-5, 6-0.
Harper would take care of things for the Cardinals in the fourth singles match, dropping his Laker opponent, 7-5 and 6-2.
Pelton would come through and seal the match for Fisher in the fifth round of singles defeating his Oswego opponent in three sets with, 0-6, 6-1 and 6-2.
The Cardinals return to their home court at 1 p.m. on Saturday as Fisher jumps back into conference play against The Sage Colleges at the Mendon Racquet Club.
