HILTON HEAD, SOUTH CAROLINA – The St. John Fisher College women's tennis team fell in a back and forth battle with Eastern Nazarene University, 5-4.
Kaili Saffrand and Cassidy Bell would stumble in first doubles for the Cardinals, falling 8-3. Amanda Pendergast and Sarah Sorrentino would put up a hard fought battle with their Eastern Nazarene Opponents eventually succumbing to the Lions, 9-7. However the third doubles team consisting of Grace Peter and Caroline Seaberg picked up the first doubles win for the Cardinals of the spring trip with a final score of 8-5.
Saffran and Taylor Slink would falter in battles with their opponents in first and second singles, dropping the matches in straight sets. However, Sorrentino would go three sets in her third singles match, eventually falling to her opponent with scores of 6-3, 2-6 and 9-11.
Finally, the Cardinals would take the clean sweep of the last three singles matches of the day. Bell and Pendergast would topple their opponents in straight sets in fourth and fifth singles, before Seaberg would finish out the day with the sweep of her opponent in sixth singles.
The Cardinals hit the court again at 12:30 on Tuesday against the University of Mount Union in Hilton Head.
