PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College men's tennis team was tripped up by the Stevens Institute of Technology Ducks in its morning match, 9-0. With the loss, Fisher falls to 0-8 on the year and 0-1 in the Empire 8 Conference. Stevens jumps to 4-7 overall and moved to 2-0 in the conference.
Kevin Kulawiec and Dustin McCullough put up a fight with their Stevens' opponents in the first round of doubles, but would eventually fall, 8-7. Jordon O'Connell and Jonathan Harper would drop second doubles with a final score of 8-1, while John Miller and Jarrett Pelton stumbled against their opponents in third doubles, 8-3.
Kulawiec and Miller would battle it out with their Duck opponents, but dropped first and second singles with scores of, 6-1, 6-4 and 6-4, 6-4.
McCullough tripped up in third singles, falling 6-1, 6-2, before Harper would duke it out with his fourth singles opponent dropping, 6-2, 6-1.
Pelton and Mike Zintel would wrap up the day in fifth and sixth singles, both falling in battles with scores of 6-3, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-1.
The Cardinals return to the court on Friday, April 6th in its second Empire 8 matchup of the season as the team is slated to duel with Hartwick College.
