PITTSFORD, N.Y. - The St. John Fisher College men's tennis team fell in its home opener to SUNY Oneonta with a final score of 8-1. With the loss, the Cardinals fell to 0-7 on the season.
Kevin Kulawiec and Dustin McCullough fell in the first round of doubles with a score of 8-3. In second and third doubles, John Miller and Jarrett Pelton as well as Jonathan Harper and Jordon O'Connell dropped their matches with scores of 8-1 and 8-4.
Kulawiec had Fisher's only highlight of the day, taking his Red Dragon opponent into a thrilling three-set match, eventually defeating his opponent with scores of 6-4, 4-6 and 10-6.
Pelton fell in a hard fought battle with his opponent, dropping two sets, 6-4 and 6-4.
Mike Zintel also took his opponent into a three-set match, eventually falling, 6-3, 1-6 and 5-10.
The Cardinals return to the court at 9 a.m. On Saturday, March 31st as the team is slated to take on Stevens Institute of Technology at Mendon Racquet Club in their first Empire 8 matchup of the season.
