Men's Soccer Succumbs to Stevens in the Opening Round of the Empire 8 Championship

HOBOKEN, N.J. - The St. John Fisher College men's soccer team fell in the opening round of the 2018 Empire 8 Men's Soccer Championship. The fourth-seeded Cardinals dropped the semi-final game to the top-seeded Ducks of Stevens Insitute of Technology, 5-0. Fisher wraps up its 2018 season with a 4-11-2 overall record.

The Ducks opened up the scoring in the sixth minute of play after they slipped a goal into the lower right corner of the goal off of a long ball.

Matthew Kaiser was able to get a shot off for the Cardinals that sailed just high of the net in the closing minutes of the first half, but Stevens added a second score to head into the halftime up two goals over Fisher.

The Cardinals played a hard fought second half, however Stevens would go on to net three goals in the second half to move on to the Empire 8 Championship final.

Fisher finished the match with Kaiser and Antonio Robles each firing off a shot attempt.

Sophomore goalkeeper Justin Miles recorded a career-high ten saves in the match but would suffer the loss in net.
