Women's Tennis Stumbles Against Nazareth on Senior Day

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College women's tennis team had its senior day spoiled as the Cardinals fell to Nazareth College, 6-3, on Tuesday afternoon at the Mendon Racquet and Pool Club.  With the loss, Fisher, which recently clinched a spot in the upcoming Empire 8 Championship, fell to 7-2 on the season while the Golden Flyers improved to 7-1 overall.

Prior to the match, Fisher honored its three seniors as the Cardinals recognized Caroline Seaberg, Grace Peter and Meaghan Reilly for their contributions to the program over the last four seasons.

Kaili Saffran moved to 8-1 at first singles as the Webster native took down her competitor in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4.  Mikayla Santulli won her fourth straight pairing at fourth singles as the freshman took the point, 6-3, 7-6.

In doubles play, Fisher came away with a point at first doubles as Saffran teamed up with Cassidy Bell for an 8-3 victory.  The duo improved to 7-2 in doubles play with five of those wins coming in Empire 8 play.

Fisher will have one final tune-up before heading in to the Empire 8 Championship as the Cardinals travel to Oneonta at 1 p.m. on Saturday to face the Hartwick College Hawks.
