BUFFALO, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College women's volleyball team made quick work of Medaille College on Tuesday evening as the Cardinals swept the Mavericks in straight sets 25-20, 25-21, 25-13. With the win, Fisher improves to 7-3 on the year while Medaille falls to 0-10.
Katie Mazierski led the way offensively for the Cardinals finishing with 17 kills and a very impressive .342 hitting percentage. The senior also helped out defensively posting seven digs.
Fellow seniors
Anna Marcy and
Madison Karwas each added seven and six kills, respectively, to help power the Fisher offense. Karwas was also very effective from the service line providing the team 10 points and three service aces.
Defensively,
Elise Kreuz continued her consistent play at the libero position finishing with a game-high 14 digs.
Rebecca Hay and
Phoebe Kane pitched in 19 and 11 assists, respectively, from the setter position.
Fisher as a team finished with 36 kills and also had its highest hitting percentage of the season with .227%.
With the help of four
Amanda Miller service aces, the Cardinals went on an 11-2 run in the middle of third set to take a commanding 21-9 lead and help put the match away.
The Cardinals will be back in action at 5 p.m. on Friday as they travel to SUNY Oswego to take on Bard College as part of the Oswego State Invitational.
