Women's Lax Upends Utica as 10 Different Cardinals Score

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College women's lacrosse team collected its second-straight double digit victory Tuesday afternoon, downing Utica College, 19-1, at Growney Stadium. With the victory, Fisher improves to 8-4 on the season and hits .500 (3-3) in conference play. Utica moves to 6-6 overall (3-3 E8).

Fisher grabbed a quick stranglehold on the lead and never looked back. The Cardinals netted 12 in the first half and followed that by another seven in the second. Utica's only score came in the waning seconds in regulation. At the conclusion of the game, Fisher outshot the Pioneers 33-7, with shots on goal at 26-4.

In all, 10 different Cardinals logged a goal in the contest, led by Cori Holbrooks' career-high five. Close behind her was Jordan Johnson who nabbed four and then Jamie Wallace and Claire Bollin, who both recorded two. To complete the score sheet, Kelsie Schindler, Morgan Young, Mackenzie LeVan, Jenna Lippert, Mallory Eymer and Emily Smith all registered one.

Holbrook, Johnson and Bollin also did well to share the ball as each came away with a pair of assists.

Defensively, Fisher locked it down, allowing only one goal and holding the Pioneers to a clear percentage of just 65%. Young had a solid day, causing a career-high three turnovers. She was aided by Abbie Reed, Mary Grace Doyle, Eymer and Holbrook who each caused two.

On the draw, Fisher out controlled 14 of the 22 attempts. Bollin accumulated a team-high four while Reed scooped up three.

Hayley Peets got the call in net for the Cardinals, stopping the pair of shots tossed at her. She was relieved with 15:35 to go for Morgan Hayes, who earned one save on the day.

Women's lacrosse will return to action at 4 p.m. on Thursday with a home contest against the Blue Devils of SUNY Fredonia.
