Men’s Lacrosse Suffers Loss to No. 10 Ithaca

The St. John Fisher College men's lacrosse team suffered a loss to the No. 10 ranked Ithaca Bombers on Wednesday afternoon, falling 19-10 on the road. With the loss, Fisher's record falls to 7-5 on the season, and 2-2 in the Empire 8 Conference.

Fisher struck first as Zach Wagner put a point on the board on an assist from Andrew Rosso after just one minute of play. Ithaca would answer with six straight goals before the end of the first quarter, lengthening the Cardinal's deficit to five at the break.

At the start of the second period, Rosso scored just over two minutes in with an unassisted goal, and with just under three to go before half Glenn Roschetzky added one more as the Cardinals faced a 12-3 deficit at the half.

Starting off the third period, neither team would score for seven minutes before Ithaca netted two goals in the same minute, stretching their lead to 11. Fisher scored four goals in both the third and fourth quarters, but could not climb back from the Bomber's lead.

Roschetzky finished the day with three goals on just five shots, while picking up one ground ball. Nick Papayanakos added two goals himself, and grabbed two ground balls. Also scoring twice was Wagner, while Nick Costello was strong on defense, scooping a team-high seven ground balls.

Matt Raap and Rosso each finished with one goal, two ground balls, and one caused turnover, while TJ VanDeusen notched a team high two assists.

The Cardinals return to action at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday when they travel to take on the Ducks of Stevens Institute of Technology in an Empire 8 matchup.
