The St. John Fisher men's tennis team closed out play during its spring break campaign with an 8-1 loss to Wilkes University on Thursday.
The Cardinals lone victory came from
Jonathan Harper, who defeated his opponent 6-3, 6-4. Fisher would force two matches into the third set on the day, the first coming in fourth singles where
Dustin McCullough lost the first set 6-2, and would come back to win the second 7-5 before falling 10-5 in the third.
Adam Moran defeated his opponent an overbearing 0-6 in the first set, but lost the second 6-3, then was taken in the third 10-3.
Jacob Zarzycki battled at first singles, losing 6-0, 6-0, while
John Miller would play in the second flight, dropping his match 6-4, 6-2. In the third spot was Jarret Pelton, who was defeated 6-1, 6-3.
In doubles play, Wilkes swept all three matches.
Quinn Magiera and Moran would play in the first spot and were defeated 8-2. In the second flight, Zarzycki and Harper would pair up, and were taken over 8-1, while in the third spot
Vincent Grasso and
Vichaka Khoy would go on to be defeated 8-2.
The Cardinals will return to Rochester after this week to take on SUNY Oneonta at home at 4 p.m. on March 17
th.
