PITTSFORD, N.Y. – On Saturday, April 1
st, the St. John Fisher College men's and women's lacrosse teams will be hosting games at Growney Stadium against conference rivals. But off the field, the squads will be aiding in an even bigger battle. The Cardinals have paired up with
Donate Life America, a not-for-profit organization that has committed to increasing the number of donated organs, eyes and tissue available for transplant to save and heal lives.
In its 25 years of existence, the Donate Life America organization has grown the donor registration list to nearly 135 million people offering to give organs, eyes or tissue. Those who sign up have the potential to save up to eight lives and enhance 75 more through their registration.
The men's lacrosse Associate Head Coach,
Dave Dobbins, has been involved with this cause for over six years now and stresses the importance of signing up. "There are a lot of helpful charities out there, but this one is so impactful and it doesn't even cost you a cent. Just by signing up, you can save multiple lives"
Men's lacrosse will be squaring off against nearby rival Nazareth College at 12 p.m. while women's lacrosse will follow that with a bout against Ithaca College at 3 p.m. People in attendance who are interested in helping the cause can visit the Donate Life stand located near the field.
