AURORA, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College women's volleyball team capped off their 2017 regular season schedule by defeating Wells College in four sets 25-21, 10-25, 25-21. 25-13. With the win the Cardinals improve to 22-8 overall on the season, which is the highest win percentage at the end of the regular season since the 1993 season. With the loss, Wells falls to 18-12 on the season.
Anna Marcy and
Katie Mazierski led the way for the Cardinals offensively finishing with 14 and 12 kills respectively. Mazierski did not post an error and hit a very impressive .414 throughout the match.
Molly Taylor notched 21 assists in the win.
The Cardinals rallied in the first set and finished on a 6-0 run to cap off a back and forth effort to start the match. Wells took the second set with the help of an 11-0 run to finish off the set.
Fisher's offense powered the team's efforts in the third and fourth sets. As a team the hitting percentages were .267 in the third set and .429 in the fourth, with a combined only six errors. Defensively for the Cardinals, Mazierski finished with 13 digs,
Elise Kreuz added 12, and
Rebecca Hay finished with 10 digs and 12 assists.
Olivia Levulis posted a season-high four blocks, while
Amanda Miller added three.
The Cardinals are back in action at 2:30 p.m. as they to Hoboken, N.J. to take on Nazareth College in the semifinals of the Empire 8 Volleyball Championship.
