PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College field hockey team capped of its regular season schedule with an Empire 8 Conference victory on Senior Day over Hartwick College by a score of 3-0. With the win the Cardinals secure the #2 seed in next week's Empire 8 Conference Championship. Fisher improves to 15-3 overall and 6-1 in the Empire 8, while the Hawks fall to 11-7 and 4-4 in the Empire 8.
Lauren Fazio put the Cardinals on the board first at the 26:37 minute mark of the first half as she took a pass from
Danila Casseri and blasted a shot past the goalkeeper for her 8th goal of the season. Fisher outshot Hartwick 10-1 in the first half and brought a 1-0 lead into halftime.
Reghan Amoroso tallied the second goal for the Cardinals as she deflected a shot from
Bre Socker in front of the cage at the 44:13 mark for her 5th goal of the season.
With eight minutes remaining in the second half,
Jess Snyder tallied her 4th of the season off a feed from
Emily Markarian to put the Cardinals up 3-0. Goalkeeper
Ashley Maynard was credited to win and improved her record to 15-3, as well as completing her eighth shutout of the season.
The Cardinals return to action at 2:30 p.m. on Friday as they travel to Washington and Jefferson College to play part in the Empire 8 Championship.
