KEUKA PARK – The nationally-ranked St. John Fisher College field hockey team shut out Keuka College 3-0 for its 12
th consecutive victory. With the win, the Cardinals improve to 12-1 overall on the year, while the Wolves fall to 2-11.
Earlier this week, Fisher was tabbed with the number 20
th ranking in the latest NFHCS national poll. It is the first time in team history that it has been ranked in the coaches' poll top 20.
The Cardinal defense continued to show off its dominance as they did not allow the Wolves to attempt one shot throughout the entire 70 minutes. However, the Cardinal offense was able to put 18 shots on goal, as well as dominating in the penalty corner department 14-0.
Ashley Maynard was credited with the victory improving her record to 12-1.
Emily Markarian started the scoring off quickly at the 5:00 mark of the first half as she took a pass from
Bre Socker and put away her team-leading 17th goal of the season. Fisher went into the half with a 1-0 lead.
Just over one minute into the second half,
Reghan Amoroso tallied her second goal of the season at the 36:09 minute mark, unassisted.
Jess Snyder followed up at the 43:08 minute mark with her second goal of the season, assisted by
Danila Casseri to make it 3-0 Fisher. The 3-0 win is the sixth time this season the Cardinals have not allowed a goal against.
The Cardinals are back in action at 12 p.m. on Saturday as they travel to Cortland, N.Y. to take on SUNY Cortland in another non-league matchup.
