The St. John Fisher College volleyball team opened the home season with a 3-0 (25-23, 25-19, 25-21) victory over visiting Medaille College on the Bobby Wanzer Court.
Fisher improves to 2-3 on the season, while Medaille drops to 1-4.
After opening up set one with a 3-0 lead, Medaille stormed back to score the next 10 points straight to take the advantage. Fisher clawed its way back to make it 11-10 before tying it at 18. Both teams would go back and forth before the Cardinals came out on top with a 25-23 win.
The Cardinals took an early 10-4 lead in set two before junior
Anna Marcy closed out the set with three-straight kills to make it 25-19 and give Fisher a 2-0 match lead. Fisher hit .243 for the set and had a team-high 13 kills in the set.
Medaille jumped out to an early 5-4 lead in set three before the Cardinals reclaimed the lead 10-8. Both teams would go back and forth yet again for the rest of the set. Fisher junior
Amanda Miller picked up her two aces of the match on back-to-back points to make it 24-20. The Cardinals took the set with a 25-21 final.
Senior
Jessica Simonetti finished the match with 11 digs and two aces. Marcy also finished with 11 digs and a team-high eight kills.
Teammate freshman setter
Phoebe Kane led the team with three aces and 20 digs.
Fisher is back in action this weekend at the U of R Volleyball Invitational.
