The St. John Fisher College field hockey team fell 2-1 to the Blue Jays of Johns Hopkins University at home Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, Fisher drops to 1-2 on the season.

The Blue Jays had early scoring opportunities gaining two penalty corners in the first seven minutes, but a high shot and a save from goalkeeper
Ashley Maynard kept the Cardinals even with their opponents.

Johns Hopkins scored its first goal with just nine minutes left in the first half, resulting in a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

The Blue Jays struck again five minutes into the second period on a goal following a penalty corner.

With five minutes remaining in regulation, Fisher's lone goal came from
Lexi Foley, who found the back of the net during a penalty corner after the ball rebounded off of a defender.

On the final play of the game, a corner for the Blue Jays, Maynard made an impressive save reaching for the crossbar to keep the score 2-1. The sophomore finished with four saves.

The Cardinals return to action at 7 p.m. on Tuesday when they take on SUNY Cortland in a non-conference matchup.
