A daunting task lies ahead for the St. John Fisher College men's lacrosse  program.  The Cardinals are the No. 4 team in the Empire 8 Conference Champioship and will travel to Ithaca College today to take on the Bombers, who are not only the Championship's No. 1 seed, but currently the No. 1 ranked team in all of NCAA Division III.   The opening faceoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.  Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students and seniors.

Fisher (8-8) locked up the fourth and final spot for the Empire 8 Championship with a 9-7 win at Alfred University on Saturday.   In that game, Fisher trailed 6-1 before storming back for the win.  Goalie Tanner Swan made 14 saves, including six in the fourth quarter.

Ithaca enters today's game with a 16-1 overall record and is ranked No. 1 nationally for the the first time in their program history.  Ithaca defeated the Cardinals 16-5 last month at Fisher's Growney Stadium.

The winner of today's game will play the winner of No. 2 Nazareth College vs. No. 3 Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday at the highest remaining seed.    The winner of Saturday's game will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship.
