Baseball Loses To Keystone In First Game At College World Series

St. John Fisher College lost its first game at the 2016 NCAA Division III Baseball College World Series on Saturday, as the Cardinals dropped a 16-3 decision to Keystone College at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton, Wisc.

With the loss, Fisher falls to 38-12 and must now play University of Wisconsin-Whitewater at 8:30 p.m. (CST) in an elimination game.

After a scoreless first inning, Keystone took the lead for good with two runs in the second, and added another run in the top of the fifth.
Fisher, who stranded runs on first and second in both the first and fifth innings, struggled in the top of the sixth.   The Giants used five hits and three errors to score nine runs in the sixth to take a 12-0 lead.

Fisher scored one run in both the seventh, eighth and nine innings.  Evan Ryan singled in the seventh and scored on an RBI-double from Cody Wiktorski.  In the eighth inning, Chris Dugan tripled to left-center and came home on a single to right from Nate Roethel.

Ryan doubled off the wall in left to start the ninth and scored on a single from Wiktorski.

Wiktorski led the Cardinals with three hits and two RBI, while Ryan went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

Senior Stephen Lewis was tagged with the loss, his first of the year, dropping his record to 7-1.
