Baseball Pushes Streak To Double-Digits

The St. John Fisher College baseball program pushed its winning streak double-digits on Saturday, as the Cardinals swept their doubleheader at SUNY Canton.  Fisher held on for a 3-2 win the opener and posted its third shutout of season with an 11-0 victory in the nightcap to record its 11th straight win.  With the two victories, Fisher, currently receiving votes in the national coaches poll, improves to 19-6 overall.  The Cardinals and the Kangaroos will play the final game in their three-game series on Sunday.

Game One: Fisher 3, Canton 2

The Cardinals took the lead in the top of the first inning on an RBI-double from Scott Eisenmenger, who went 1-for-3 in the game with two RBI.

Jack Trotman led Fisher with two hits, including a double.

Mike Roman, Joe Simmons and Evan Ryan each singled and scored a run.

Starting pitcher Terry Engels allowed four hits and two runs over 6.1 innings to earn his third win of the year.  Loukas Brigham retired the final two batters to notch his fourth save of the season.

Game Two: Fisher 11, Canton 0

Fisher's Cody Wiktorski and Malcolm Kelsey each hit two home runs to lead the offense, while the pitching staff, led by starter Marc Iseneker, posted nine shutout innings.

Iseneker worked six scoreless innings to improve his record to 4-1 on the year.  Jason Wasilnak, Mitch Modlin and DJ Mendenhall each threw scoreless frames.

Kelsey hit a two-run homer in the second and third (both of which scored Frank Carnevale, who scored three runs in the game), while Wiktorski ripped a solo shot in the fourth and a two-run bomb in the fifth to put Fisher up 10-0.

Joe Simmons, who led Fisher in the game with three hits, doubled in Fisher's final run and need just a home run for the cycle.
