The St. John Fisher College baseball program pushed its current winning streak to eight games on Sunday, as the Cardinals scored 14 runs in back-to-back games and came away with two wins at Utica College. With the wins, Fisher improves to 16-6 overall and 5-0 in the Empire 8 Conference. The Cardinals will return to action on Wednesday and will host College of Brockport.
Game One - Fisher 14, Utica 2 After falling behind 2-0 after two innings, Fisher scored the game's final 14 runs. Seniors
Cody Wiktorski and
Mike Roman led the way for the Cardinals at the plate. Wiktorski went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and four RBI. The third baseman hit his fourth home run of the season to highlight a six-run fourth inning.
Roman also finished with three hits, including two doubles. He also scored two runs and drove in two more.
Jack Trotman scored a team-high three runs and finished with two hits.
Evan Ryan hit a two-run double, while
Ryan Prevost scored two runs.
Scott Eisenmenger knocked in two more runs.
Terry Engels raised his record to 2-1 on the year with nine strikeouts over six innings.
Erin Moskal pitched a scoreless seventh.
Game Two – Fisher 14, Utica 6 Eight different players enjoyed multi-hit games for the Cardinals, who jumped out to a 6-0 lead after two innings.
Eisenmenger hit a two-run single in the first inning and added a two-run homer in the second frame, his fifth bomb of the year. He also scored a season-high four runs.
Roman again added three hits, including two doubles, while scoring four runs.
Outfielders
Nate Roethel and
Joe Simmons each singled twice and scored two runs.
Jack Vivinetto,
Frank Carnevale and Prevost each added two hits and two RBI. Ryan also chipped in with two hits.
Coming off a no-hitter 13 days ago,
Marc Iseneker picked up his third win of the year, striking out seven over five innings, while allowing just three earned runs.
Ryan Felske,
Kevin Berge and
Kyle Chambers each pitched scoreless innings in relief.
