Baseball Splits At Haverford

The St. John Fisher College baseball program split its doubleheader at Haverford College on Saturday.  The Cardinals came through with a 10-6 win in the opener, but lost the nightcap, 3-2.   Fisher is now 8-6 on the year, while Haverford moves to 9-3.

Fisher returns to action on Wednesday at SUNY College at Brockport.

Game 1 – Fisher 10, Haverford 6

Fisher jumped out to a 2-0 lead on Cody Wiktorski's third home run of the season in the third inning, but Haverford took a 3-2 lead in the bottom-half of the frame.

The Cardinals broke it open with seven runs in the fourth and added its 10th run on a solo home run from Scott Eisenmenger in the sixth, his third of the year.

Jim Dawson pitched the fifth inning and raised his record to 3-0 on the year.  Marc Iseneker worked the first four frames and struck out seven.

Kevin Berge pitched three scoreless innings in relief to earn his third save of the season.

Wiktorski led Fisher in the game with three hits and five RBI.   Mike Roman singled twice, while Evan Ryan scored two runs.   Frank Carnevale, Malcolm Kelsey and Jack Vivinetto each singled and scored a run.

Game 2 – Haverford 3, Fisher 2

Fisher gave up three runs in the fourth inning (only one was earned) and finally got on the board with a run in the eighth inning.  Fisher scored another run in the top of the ninth and had the tying run in scoring position with just one out, but couldn't come through.

Scott Eisenmenger and Evan Ryan each finished with a hit and a run scored.  Cody Wiktorski doubled for Fisher's lone extra-base hit.

Dominick Pisciotto took the loss, allowing one earned run over four innings.  Ryan Felske (1.0 IP), Terry Engels (2.1 IP) and Loukas Brigham (0.2 IP) each pitched scoreless ball in their limited action.
