The St. John Fisher College women's basketball program shot 59.6% from the floor and made 12 3-pointers, as the Cardinals cruised to a 92-60 win over visiting Utica College on Monday night.
With the win, Fisher improves to 15-3 overall and 8-1 in the Empire 8 Conference, while Utica falls to 7-12, 2-8.
It was Fisher's best shooting performance of the season, setting season-highs for field goal percentage and 3-pointers made. It was also Fisher's best passing night. After
Mary Kate Cusack scored on an unassisted layup on the opening possession, the Cardinals tallied 29 assists on 30 field goals.
Fisher led 12-6 with 1:19 left in the first quarter, but went on a 9-0 run to close out the period with senior
Claire Walsh draining two 3-pointers during the run. The Cardinals also used a 12-0 run late in the second quarter to help put Fisher up 42-22 at the half, as the Cardinals coasted to victory.
Cusack led Fisher with 24 points and a career-high 10 assists, marking her first career double-double. Walsh finished with a season-high 16 points and three assists, while
Emily Piacentini added 13 points and a career-high eight assists.
Sophomore
Jessica Rhone finished with 13 rebounds and three blocks (both career-highs), while adding six rebounds.
Senior
Bridget Carney added 11 points in the win.
Fisher returns to action action at 8 p.m. on Thursday at Ithaca College.
