The St. John Fisher College men's basketball program dropped a 79-69 decision to visiting SUNY Cortland on Saturday afternoon in a non-conference matchup at Fisher's Bobby Wanzer Court.

With the loss, Fisher falls to 4-3 overall, while the Red Dragons improve to 7-2.

The Cardinals were control for the first part of the first half and took their largest lead of the game at 27-20 with 10 minutes left on a pair of free throw from freshman Sammy Robinson.
Cortland, however, went on a 12-1 run over a three-minute span late in the half to take the lead for good and held a 42-37 advantage at the break.

Fisher would trail by as many as 13 points at 61-48 with 10:18 remaining, but made a valiant run, sparked by three 3-pointers from senior Dan Vaulman.  A dunk from Jake Haight with 7:44 left made it a four-point game, and Keegan Ryan's layup with 6:44 left, pulled the Cardinals to within two at 67-65.   

Ryan led the Cardinals with 17 points and nine rebounds, while Robinson scored a career-high 11 points. Tyler English recorded his first career double-double, totaling a career-high 10 rebounds, while scoring 10 points and dishing out five assists.

Vaulman finished with nine points on 3-of-4 shooting from beyond the arc is just eight minutes of action, while Haight tallied seven points and four rebounds.

Fisher will return to action on December 29^th and 30^th.  The Cardinals will host Colby-Sawyer, Immaculata and Penn State-Behrend in the two-day tournament.
